CDM for Principal Designers 

Cost: £195 no VAT charged
Funding: CITB grant payable of £60 per person to eligible companies
Duration: 1 day
Locations: In-person (nationwide) and remote (online). Employers can also book for 6-16 employees at a nominated venue - contact us to learn more.
Dates: 31 October 2025 (remote), 3 February 2026 (Kent), 26 March 2026 (Scotland)

This one-day course teaches contractor responsibilities under the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations 2015.

It is suitable for individual designers and businesses appointed as principal designers.

Those who complete the course will receive a CITB National Construction College Certificate.

Course content

The course includes:

  • CDM 2015 overview and application
  • Planning, managing on monitoring pre-construction phase work
  • Duty-holder responsibilities
  • Assisting with paperwork including client briefs and pre-construction documents
  • Risk control
  • Health and safety requirements.

Classroom-based discussion and case studies

What you get

You will also gain an understanding of the following:

  • The legal position of the contractor and principal contractors
  • The roles of the client and designers
  • Assessment requirements for knowledge, skills, experience and resources
