For holders of CISRS Scaffolder or Advanced Cards, or construction managers and supervisors seeking to develop management skills for supervising scaffolding operations.

Enhance your professional development, and gather evidence for NVQ/SVQ management or supervisory qualifications. 

If you pass, we apply for the CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor Card on your behalf.

  • Health and safety including Safety Guidance Note 4 (SG4)
  • Regulations and Codes of Practice
  • Scaffolding terminology
  • Construction regulations and standards for basic scaffolds – BS EN12811-1 and TG20
  • Improved supervision of safety compliance
  • Reporting accidents and RIDDOR
  • Risk assessments and method statements
  • Basic estimating
  • Communication skills
  • The Construction Industry Scaffolders’ Record Scheme (CISRS).

Teaching and assessment

  • Classroom learning and practicals
  • Written test and project.

  • CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor Certificate
  • CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor Card.

Entry requirements

1. CITB HS&E Test Supervisory Level passed within the last two years, or accepted exemptions. To apply for an exemption, email a copy of your certificate to ncc@citb.co.uk 

2. (a) CISRS Scaffolder or Advanced Scaffolder Card, or

    (b) At least 2 years' experience of scaffolding and:

    • 'Supervisor CV form' submitted and approved before you make a booking, and
    • A letter from your employer confirming your experience and suitability for this course.

3. Good spoken and written English

4. Valid form of ID. See accepted forms of ID.
