Covid-19: CITB chief exec update – 16 June 2020

Good afternoon,

Today’s email includes news about remote learning courses and their extension to the end of the year.

There is also the great news that 500 employers have now signed up to the Building Mental Health Charter – showing how important this is to our sector and I would encourage all companies, large and small, to please sign up.

Remote learning courses – extension

In response to the COVID-19 situation, CITB responded to the immediate need and worked with training providers to introduce remote delivery of our Site Safety Plus courses. This was an emergency provision to support industry and training providers following the suspension of all face to face training.

Now, following positive feedback and the success of remote delivery during this period, we are reviewing delivery options moving forward. Based on this we are pleased to confirm that remote delivery of Site Safety Plus courses will continue until at least 31 December 2020.

We will provide further updates as we shape the future delivery options for these courses, consulting with both employers and training providers.

Building Mental Health Charter

It’s welcome news that 500 employers have now signed up to the Building Mental Health Charter.  This is a company pledge to encourage positive conversations at work and reduce stigma, while engaging workforce champions to help keep people safe; and offering mental health first aid training. A really positive initiative that will help many in the construction workforce, even more so during these difficult times. For more information or to sign up, you can find information here.

CITB’s COVID-19 Urgent Messages page is refreshed daily and includes updates on the full range of our work.

You can also read the range of support measures made available to UK businesses and employees by the UK Government.

I would like to wish you, your colleagues and family a safe and pleasant week ahead. My next update will be on Thursday.

Kind wishes

Sarah Beale
