Learn the basics of lifting with excavators, with a 1- or 2-day course depending on your experience and the CPCS card you currently hold.
Get lifting endorsement A59c added to your CPCS card if you pass the technical test.
Course content
- Operate the machine to a minimum standard
- Site the machine safely and efficiently
- Understand the capabilities, purposes and limitations of each machine
- Follow all necessary safety precautions
- Interpret the information provided by load charts and lift plans
- Understand which routine adjustments and safety checks are legally required with regard to lifting accessories, and know how to carry them out.
Teaching and assessment
- 1 or 2 days classroom learning and practical exercises. Duration depends on your experience and the card you currently hold.
- 1-day CPCS technical tests.

Entry requirements
- Holder of card 'CPCS Excavator 360° Tracked, Code A59'
- CITB HS&E test passed within the last two years, or the new CPCS Plant Operative Health, Safety and Environment Test - NOCN Job Cards
- Good spoken and written English
- A valid form of ID. See accepted forms of ID.
