This three-day course is for anyone responsible for the movement of plant and vehicles on construction sites.

You will learn how to prepare for vehicle and plant movement. This includes guidance, communication, hazards, ground conditions, work area layout and positioning.

We will apply for your CPCS Trained Operator Card (red card) on your behalf after you pass the technical tests.

  • Regulatory requirements
  • Plant types, limitations, hazards and stability factors
  • Work management traffic plan
  • Proximity hazards
  • Safe positioning and communication methods
  • Preparing and guiding plant and vehicle movement.

CITB National Construction College E-Certificate available on request

Entry requirements

  1. CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test passed within last two years or CPCS Plant Operative Health, Safety and Environment Test pass.
  2. Good spoken and written English.
  3. Valid form of ID. See accepted forms of ID.

Further training

You'll need to complete the Plant Operations NVQ/SVQ level 2 within two years to get the CPCS Competent Operator Card (blue card). Register your interest for this here.
