Developed alongside major utilities construction firms, EUSR Cat 4 Install, Inspect & Remove Steel Support Systems is for construction workers involved in excavations and trench boxes.

Part of the Energy & Utility Skills Register suite, this course offers training that aligns with National Skills Academy for Power and EU Skills Category 4 for the safe shoring of excavations.

  • Legislation
  • Health & Safety
  • Shoring systems
  • Soil conditions
  • Effects of weather and water
  • Service drawings
  • Installation of shallow trench-shoring (verti-shore)
  • Push and dig with two frames 
  • Using CAT/drawings for locating cables
  • Installation of a trench box.

What you get

  • The college will apply on your behalf for the Energy and Utilities Skills Register (EUSR) card, endorsed with the Category 4 Excavation Scheme
  • This card is valid for five years.

Entry requirements

  1. Reasonable mobility
  2. Ability to lift and move loads
  3. Good spoken and written English
